Payroll Manager

Interstates is looking for a Payroll Manager to join our Accounting and Finance team. The Payroll Manager is responsible for leading the accounting team in the accurate payroll processing for over 1000 employees across the country.   • Lead payroll team through the end-to-end payroll processes including data collection, internal communication, data entry, and compliance review
  • Continually analyze and streamline payroll processes and systems
  • Coach payroll team on accuracy, processes, and compliance
  • Ensure timely payroll processing of 1000+ team members across multiple states and partner with external vendor for international payroll processing
  • Ensure proper and timely filing of federal, state, and municipal taxes
  • Ensure the organization is compliant with all applicable federal, state, and municipal tax regulations
  • Ensure year-end tax returns and reports to employees are accurately and efficiently prepared and distributed
  • Other duties may be assigned


Education and/or Experience:

  • 2- or 4-year degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or other related field
  • 5+ years’ accounting experience
  • Proven understanding and experience with Payroll
  • Proven attention to detail and high accuracy execution of accounting processes
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), relationship-building, and teamwork skills


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience leading a team
  • Experience developing and implementing processes and standards
  • Experience with Ultipro, Spectrum, or other Accounting Software a plus


Location and Travel:

This position is located in either our Sioux Center, IA, Sioux Falls, SD, Omaha, NE offices. Travel may be required up to 5% of the time
