Overview

Interstates is currently seeking a talented and motivated Electrical Estimator to join our team. Your role will be to work with our team of construction professionals and provide accurate and efficient cost estimates for projects in and around the Fort Collins, CO area.

 

Salary range for this position is $54,656 - $81,984

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate and timely electrical construction estimates on which we base competitive bids and proposals for our client-base customers.
  • Analyze and interpret detailed drawings and specifications.
  • Determine and price value-engineered alternatives to plans and specifications.
  • Perform budget pricing from schematic drawings and narrative.
  • Draft scope letters, proposals and vendor solicitations.
  • Attend job walks; pre-bid meetings; collaborations and conferences with clients and design professionals.
  • Support the Lead Electrical Estimator with the functioning of the Estimating Department; the education and development of junior personnel; on-going development and maintenance of computerized estimating programs and databases; congenial relations with clients and vendors.
  • Maintains and captures all necessary documentation of the bid cycle (i.e.: notes, assumptions, verbal instructions).
  • Assesses risks and mitigates them by offering solutions and clarifies them in proposals.
  • Participates with sales and project negotiations.
  • After award, assembles and transfers the estimate information to the execution team.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Work alongside other estimators, project managers and project engineers on change-orders and cost-to-complete estimates of on-going projects.
  • Help create and communicate company standards for estimating electrical design/build and plans and specs work.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required, but additional education or experience in estimating is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
  • Analytical, problem-solving mentality with ability to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Possesses sound judgement skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Experience with a major computerized program (e.g. BHS, Accubid, etc.).
  • 2-5 years of industrial electrical estimating experience.
  • Construction Management degree or other equivalent studies.

 

Travel: This position will be expected to travel locally up to 20% as it relates to attending meetings, job walks, etc.
