Overview

Interstates is growing, and we are currently seeking a Software Defined Network (SDN) Deployment Specialist to join our Research & Development Team. The SDN Deployment Specialist will install, configure, demo and deliver training on SDN infrastructure for our clients. Interstates seeks ambitious, innovative individuals with the ability to grow and maintain value-added relationships with our team and external customers. 

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, demo, and train clients on SDN network infrastructure
  • Communicate with internal teams and external clients
  • Provide training services to external clients
  • Provide assessments of clients’ current network infrastructure 
  • Assist in business development from a technical support aspect, including attending relevant trade shows to provide product demonstration
  • Create proposals and scope of work documents for potential clients
  • Provide customer feedback to SDN vendor on suggested improvement and bug fixes
  • Testing of product release from vendors, both software and hardware products.
  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: 

  • 2 or 4-year degree in Computer Science, Controls (Automation), IT or a related technical field or equivalent combination of education and related experience/training
  • Experience in industrial controls (PLCs or HMIs)
  • Experience or knowledge on switches and firewall configurations
  • General understanding of ethernet networks
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio and network documentation
  • Cyber security awareness
  • Proven track record of initiative and ambition

 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience with Virtualization
  • Experience with network troubleshooting and analysis tools
  • Experience with Linux Server and services
  • Experience with networking in manufacturing environments
  • Basic knowledge of Software Defined Networking Technologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including formal group presentation skills
  • Excellent training skills
  • Experience on defining and executing a consistent and thorough testing methodology.

 

Travel: We are open to this being a remote position.  Or, this position could be located in our Cincinnati offices, Ann Arbor or Remote in the US.  Travel for the SDN Deployment Specialist is required 25-30% of the time.
